Only two pictures, but I love the way the first one came out which I took on my morning walk. A lone toadstool in the grass on the side of the road.
Desperate times call for desperate measures. This morning, I remembered I had some Prednisone tablets leftover from the last time I had a bad case of poison ivy. I figured that they should work well on relieving the itching from the chigger bites as well. They do seem to be drying up.
For good measure, since these were desperate times, I also coated a good bit of my body (which was covered in bites) with a turmeric poultice. Turmeric is great for a number of ailments and works wonders on cuts. So, maybe it will stop itching? And, who knows, maybe it would even keep the chiggers away as I prepared to descend back into the woods for round two of log cutting.
Leftover turmeric poultice that dried into a figure of a penguin that I am sure is very symbolic of something.
Of course, I wasn't going to trust the turmeric to keep the chiggers away, so I spread regularly and heavily. Will know tomorrow if I was successful.
Approaching a large fallen tree with at least five thick, tall branches extending from the main trunk, gives some good life lessons. Tangled in all the other brush, one wonders where to start. It's like any conundrum, one step at a time. With a tree, one has to be careful of each cut because s seemingly innocuous small branch could actually be keeping the entire tree from rolling over.
Then there is the craft of cutting the thick logs that are seemingly immobile. One can't cut all the way down to the ground because once the blade hits the dirt, the chain becomes dulled. So, it's always a very satisfying challenge to figure out how to get it to roll over.
There are other parallels, I'm sure, to everyday life, but I really have to go. More cutting on the schedule tomorrow.
Oh, yes, the bike ride. An errand ride to the grocery store on a very round-about route.
Today's Ride: 2hrs. 13mins. 23.08 miles. 90 degrees. Miles YTD: 5,713.51
