I actually felt more tired than I did the past two days. Working on the blog all day yesterday seemed to give me an adrenalin rush and I think there’s a bit of a post-partum let down after the incredible high from the past few days.
I decided to take a look for myself at the damage I caused to my bottom on the ride. Positioning myself over a mirror I was rather taken back. I expected to see a small bruise mark; instead, on both legs, there were bruise marks that ran about ten inches long and several inches wide at the widest point. I examined myself BEFORE going out on my bike ride today and I was very conscious of the wounds below. But, after a few miles I managed to more or less dismiss the markings.
I’ve been wearing two sets of shorts the past three days-after and, I have a feeling, I will probably continue to double-up for the remainder of the year. Carol did say that I almost always have bruise marks, just nowhere near as severe as they are now.
As I was coming home, I spotted this wasp/hornet pulling a wolf spider. I circled back, not believing what I thought I saw. But, sure enough, as I watched, the wasp kept tugging at the spider, which still seemed to be alive but dazed. At one point, the wasp even took to the air momentarily with the spider in its grasp. It's one of the treasures I love about bike riding - these tiny backyard discoveries.
Today's Ride: 88mins. 15.32 miles. 77 degrees Miles YTD: 6,249.61
