On to Shreveport today, so I awoke at 4:45 hoping to get in at least 23 miles. Normally, two hours would be plenty of time but I seemed to move rather sluggishly through the dark morning. Darkness has that affect at times, and this morning pedaling by the light of a headlamp felt as if I was in a vacuum of sorts with no gauge of time or distance to measure.
I did see two shooting stars, which always brings a smile. The first one I caught out of the corner of my eye low in the northwest part of the sky. The brightness of Jupiter, it was still falling toward the horizon when I looked over. The second one was a fast streak across the sky in front of me.
I was really looking forward to riding tomorrow morning but we just couldn't make my bike fit into the Miller's vehicle for the ride down to Shreveport; my kingdom for 6 more inches. So, that will mean a night ride tomorrow when we get back.
On the drive down, I was talking about trying to reach 9,000 miles for the year and Rachel piped in that I really should try for 10,000 as that was a better sounding number. Everyone else in the car agreed. "Well. you get Mom to agree to let me devote all my time to biking, and I will." Rachel insisted that I could still do it. "It's only 36 something miles per day," she said. Only. Yes. Right.
Today's Ride: 1 hr 51mins 20.23 miles. 43 degrees 6,875.09
