I tried to make the day before, the rain forest bike ride, seem more like my birthday as the actual day, the 9th was a very long travel day. Up at 5:00AM, on the way to the airport an hour later with a 4 hour flight to Atlanta, a 3 hour layover and finally back in Northwest Arkansas close to 6:00PM. There was still the drive home and by the time I got on the bike for my daily ride it was close to 7:30.
I decided to drive down to the mostly undeveloped subdivision down the road from us where I could easily do 4.5 mile loops. Also, needing to ride in the dark, it was a very safe place to ride. There turned out to be an added benefit riding down there as my headlamp died with about an half hour to go. Fortunately, the moonlight and the light from the lamp posts provided sufficient light to ride by.
On the flight from Panama, there was a flight attendant who would come on the PA and sing occasionally. As we were on our approach into Atlanta, she came on one more time and sang me a happy birthday, which she found out about from Carol.
Thank you, Peggy.
Oh, yes. And a very happy, and belated, birthday to Tom who was also born on the 9th.
9 October birthday ride: 1hr 37mins. 20.15 miles. 67 degrees. Miles YTD: 7,054.54
Today's number of miles per day needed to reach 9,000 miles by the end of the year: 23.44
And, if by some chance I shoot for 10,000 miles...35.49 miles per day (ouch!)
